One of the highlights of the year for RNR members is the annual rally. The rally takes place in a different location each year, usually following a four year cycle of Midlands, South, Midlands, North.
The 2010 rally will take place from Thursday 10th June to Sunday 13th June at The National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port (colloquially known as The Boat Museum). This is situated at the very north end of the Shropshire Union Canal.
The main rally events will take place in the Tom Rolt Conference centre. Visiting RNR boats will be moored in the lower basin. The rally bar will feature local beers from the Frodsham Brewery and Spitting Feathers. The cider on sale will also be from Cheshire, supplied by Wrenbury Cider. (Transported by boat to the museum). One difference this year is that the main entertainment evening is on Friday. This is a return visit by Black Country comedy duo Dandy.
Reminder to RNR members - please complete the rally entry form which was enclosed with issue 64 of the RNR newsletter and return to the rally organiser as soon as possible.
The rally organising team are also investigating suitable ocations in the Midlands for the 2011 rally. This will again be be held on the second week end of June. As Midlands rallies attract a larger attendance, initial investigations are focused on sites where the majority of boats can be moored off the main canal.
